- Americans who have been working overseas and who are culturally reintegrating into U.S. life
- Baby boomers in professional or life transition
Michael Brown is the founder of Satya Development International LLC, a consulting company working in various aspects of international development, conservation and governance programming. We specialize in capacity building and methodology development. Michael brings over 30 years of varied experience. He is a facilitator, mentor, trainer, non-profit organizational president, strategic planner and project designer. He also has started and run to businesses. He brings this experience to SDI, and its new division, Out of the Box Coaching and Facilitation.
Most of Michael's professional life has been spent working at the interface with the world's poorest peoples - Somali nomads carrying AK-47s, Congolese Pygmies in remote tropical forests, dirt poor farmers in Timbuktu, Haitian hillside coffee farmers - and governments, non-profits and private sector companies. The work has involved helping all stakeholders make decisions about what the best options are to promote development that is sustainable - from local perspectives, along with donors or implementors. Over the years we have designed tools and provided hundreds of trainings to non-profits, communities and donors on assessing the costs, benefits and risks of the various development options. This work has involved consensus building in very complex social, political and economic settings.

Profile of Who We Can Help the Most
- You may be a small non-profit founder, President or CEOs who is struggling with sustainable funding to secure your organization's future. Or you may be trying to figure out how to engage your board to provided oversight and hopefully, help raise discretionary funds. I have been there and can help.
- You may be the owner of a sole proprietorship or an LLC that is struggling with business and family problems due to cash flow pressures. I have been there and can help.
- You may be a "30 or 40 something" who had a great job and lost it, or has one now and may lose it. And you're not sure of what your options are, if you can start your own, business, or if you really need secure employment. I have been there and can help.
- You may be thinking of starting up your own business but are rightfully wary in this economy to take a shot. I have been there and can help.
- You may have years of overseas experience but are unsure how to transition to work in the U.S. I have been there and can help.
- You may be an executive in a company that wants to expand into Africa, but are unclear on whether you should try, are capable of pulling it off, and where you should go. I have been there and can help.
- You may be a foreign national wishing to establish working relations with companies in the U.S., but cannot figure out how to do it. I have not been there but can help you figure it out.
- You may be a non-profit or community based group from an economically depressed area where options appear lacking and barriers overwhelming. I have been there with many clients and can help.
- Finally, you may even be the spouse of someone who has died, or is dying of cancer. The mix of pain and unwanted freedom is numbing, but you know you must and can move on in your personal life before it impacts you (much more) professionally. I have been there and can help in this type of transition.
